What Are Proline-Rich Polypeptides (PRPs)?

Proline-rich polypeptides (PRPs) are heterogeneous, proline-rich peptide/polypeptide fractions isolated from mammalian colostrum. They have been studied for effects on cytokine signaling and cellular immune responses. PRPs have demonstrated immunoregulatory activity in experimental systems, but human clinical evidence remains limited. These findings do not establish that PRP supplements normalize immune function or treat autoimmune or inflammatory disease.

Colostrum-derived PRP preparations are not interchangeable. Studies of Colostrinin®, a separate standardized PRP preparation, and exploratory laboratory work cannot be treated as clinical evidence for NanoPro PRP™ Immune.

Current Product Facts

The current store product record identifies the reviewed product as BioPharma Scientific NanoPro PRP™ Vanilla, 540 g.

Item Per 18 g scoop
Calories 60
Protein 12 g
Colostrum with PRP 2 g
Reduced L-Glutathione 50 mg
Selenium as L-selenomethionine 40 mcg
Servings per container 30

Other ingredients: Instant whey protein isolate, dextrin from non-GMO corn, reduced-fat colostrum with PRPs, plant-based natural flavors, xanthan gum, silicon dioxide, stevia leaf extract, soy lecithin, and lactase enzyme. Contains milk (whey) and soy.

Suggested use: Mix 1 scoop (18 g) with 8–10 oz of cold water, milk, or another beverage. Use once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Label boundary: The current product record declares 2 g of colostrum with PRP per scoop, but does not separately quantify lactoferrin or immunoglobulins. The lactoferrin RCT below therefore cannot be used to infer dose equivalence.

What Is NanoPro PRP™ Immune?

NanoPro is a combined whey-protein and bovine-colostrum product. PRP, whole-colostrum, lactoferrin, and whey-protein research represent different evidence categories, and none independently establishes the clinical efficacy of this finished formula.

The PRP Evidence: What It Shows

  • Experimental immune signaling: PRP/Colostrinin research includes cytokine and cellular immune responses, but these are not equivalent to demonstrated clinical immune benefit.
  • Human exploratory evidence: One small study included human leukocyte/whole-blood experiments and only two volunteers who received oral PRP for approximately 2–3 weeks. This is exploratory evidence, not a human RCT.
  • Colostrinin clinical studies: Alzheimer’s disease studies evaluated Colostrinin®, a separate standardized PRP preparation. They do not establish that NanoPro improves cognition or treats disease.

Whole Colostrum and Lactoferrin Evidence

A 2024 meta-analysis found favorable changes in some intestinal-permeability measures with whole bovine colostrum, although heterogeneity was substantial and additional trials were needed. Those studies evaluated bovine colostrum preparations, not NanoPro, and do not establish that NanoPro improves intestinal permeability.

A 2026 randomized trial assigned healthy adults aged 50 years or older to lactoferrin 200 mg/day, 600 mg/day, or placebo for four weeks. Some inflammatory, antiviral-response, and immune-cell measures changed, but findings were not uniformly positive, including no between-group difference in virus-induced IFN-γ. NanoPro’s standalone lactoferrin dose is not identified, so dose equivalence and finished-product efficacy cannot be inferred.

NanoPro™ Technology: What Is and Is Not Established

The current product record markets patented NanoSorb™ nano-emulsification and enhanced absorption. A manufacturer product claim is not the same as independent human pharmacokinetic evidence. Unless product-specific human PK or bioavailability data are available, this article should not state that NanoPro particles are proven to reach systemic circulation, dramatically increase absorption, or prevent digestive degradation. The published PRP and colostrum literature does not validate those proprietary delivery claims.

Who May Consider Discussing NanoPro PRP™ Immune?

  • Healthy adults interested in discussing a whey- and colostrum-derived supplement as part of a broader nutrition and wellness plan
  • Adults seeking additional protein who understand that immune claims are not established by finished-product clinical trials
  • Patients who want a pharmacist or physician to review the product in the context of dairy allergy, autoimmune disease, immunosuppressive therapy, pregnancy, lactation, or other medical conditions
  • Not a substitute for evaluation: People with frequent infections, unexplained inflammation, gastrointestinal symptoms, cognitive changes, or other persistent symptoms should seek medical assessment rather than using NanoPro as a treatment strategy.

Important Safety Considerations

  • Dairy allergy or sensitivity: NanoPro contains milk-derived whey and colostrum and may not be appropriate for people with milk-protein allergy.
  • Autoimmune disease or immunosuppressive medication: Discuss use with a pharmacist or physician because experimental immunomodulatory activity does not establish safety or benefit in these populations.
  • Pregnancy and lactation: The product warning advises professional review before use.
  • Medication and surgery review: The product warning advises people taking prescription medications or preparing for surgery to consult a physician or pharmacist.

Pharmacist’s Note

As a PharmD, I discuss NanoPro as a whey- and colostrum-derived protein product, not as a proven immune treatment. The PRP, whole-colostrum, and lactoferrin literature provides biologic context, but the preparations, doses, populations, and outcomes differ from this finished product. I would not describe NanoPro as proven to normalize immune function, treat autoimmune or inflammatory disease, prevent infection, improve intestinal permeability, or improve cognition. I review dairy allergy, medical conditions, medications, and the absence of an independent finished-product RCT before discussing whether it fits a patient’s goals. Evidence Transparency

Preparation and provenance: The selected literature includes exploratory PRP work, reviews, randomized studies of separate Colostrinin® or lactoferrin preparations, and trials of whole bovine colostrum. PubMed metadata reviewed for the 2024 colostrum meta-analysis and 2026 lactoferrin RCT did not expose a funding or conflict-of-interest statement; that absence is not evidence that no such relationships exist, so the original full texts should be consulted. None of the cited studies independently establishes efficacy of NanoPro PRP™ Immune.
